Annual Limited Spaces World famous in New Zealand

Adventure Course — Saturday 28th Nov 2026

One day of skills training with an option to add on two days of real New Zealand adventure riding.

Every year we run an Adventure Course for riders who want to experience riding 'when the seal ends'. The course is aimed at those with Learner to Intermediate skills but open to all.

Social Get Together — Friday 27th Nov 4.00pm – 6.00pm

Friday 27th Nov 4.00pm – 6.00pm, riders are welcome to attend a social get together to meet and mingle with other riders and the TMT team. Nibbles provided, BYO drinks.

Day 1 is skills training at Cable Bay Adventure Park. Days 2 and 3 take those skills onto the Rainbow Road: Nelson to Hanmer Springs, overnight, then back the same way.

Exclusive Access: We ride the Rainbow before it's open to the public.

Note: Day 1 stands alone. Days 2 and 3 are open to Day 1 riders who want the full experience. The course cost is for Day 1 with Days 2 and 3 at riders' expense (accommodation, meals etc).

Why This Course

Adventure riding is not just hoping for the best and pointing it at the gravel. It's balance, line choice, braking, clutch control, and the confidence to keep going when the surface changes.

We train that first. Then we ride it for real.

The Format

Day 1 (Skills) — Saturday 28th Nov
Cable Bay Adventure Park

A full day of adventure skills training. We work through standing position, slow-speed control, hill starts, braking on loose surfaces and more. Coaching is practical and progressive.

Day 2 (Rainbow road) — Sunday 29th Nov
To Hanmer Springs (Optional)

Put your new skills into practice with an actual adventure ride through the Rainbow to Hanmer. We ride in groups with instructor support and on-going coaching, so you're not guessing your way through the hard bits.

We book a group dinner for those keen to join for a social debrief at the end of the day.
Day 3 — Hanmer to Nelson — Monday 30th Nov
Along the Rainbow (Optional)

A group booking is made for breakfast before we head through the Rainbow same country, different light, and a second chance to ride it smoother. This is where it all starts to gel and become more relaxed.

Who It Is For

This course suits licensed riders who want to ride unsealed roads with more control and less drama. Ideal if you have an adventure or dual purpose bike, you're planning gravel touring, or you have been putting off the Rainbow until you felt ready.

You don't need to be an expert. You do need a mechanically sound bike, a willingness to practise, and gear for all seasons.

Bike & Tyre Requirement

Bring a mechanically sound adventure or dual purpose motorcycle fitted with appropriate dual purpose tyres.

If you're unsure whether your current set qualifies, ask us before you book.

What You Take Away

A clear understanding of how to control your bike on different surfaces
Better braking, throttle, and clutch control
Confidence inspiring skills
